Basic Information

The Wildfire Ostard is a pet that was introduced with the 'Treasures of Wildfire' event on June 24th, 2021.

It can be purchased for 200 points from the Artifact Trader outside the Fire Dungeon for the duration of the event.

Anyone can purchase the statue, but only a tamer can open the statue to get the pet.

Wildfire Ostard

Double-clicking the Wildfire Ostard Statue will "break" the statue, releasing a Wildfire Ostard pet that will instant-bond with you. You must have real GM taming in order to use the statue. Once you use the statue, it disappears from your character.

Triton Statue Warning

The Wildfire Ostard pet can be traded to anyone with appropriate Animal Taming Skill.

Wildfire Ostards cannot be put on Magincia Stable Vendors since they are a summoned pet.

Wildfire Ostards will disappear if you attempt to release them.

Spawn Range and Rating

Wildfire Ostards are fairly unique in that they are always the same stats when spawned. This allows you to get a Wildfire Ostard from the event without having to worry about rolling one with 'good' stats.

Overall, Wildfire Ostards are based on the stats of the Bane Dragon (which cannot be acquired, except through player trading). Due to the new Animal Taming system and how pet slots are calculated, the Wildfire Ostard has less starting stats than a Bane Dragon in order to allow it to spawn as a 3-slot pet.

The Wildfire Ostard inherits the innate 'Reactive Poisoning' ability that Bane Dragons have (when the pet takes damage, there is a chance for a reactive poison bolt to proc, dealing damage and poisoning the target).

For more information on the starting stats of a Wildfire Ostard, you can view it in the Animal Bestiary.

General Training Information

There are a few considerations to take when training a Wildfire Ostard:

Training Limitations

Wildfire Ostards are very tight on training points and cannot be built like a typical pet.

Wildfire Ostards are primarily designed for PvP use, but can still be spec'd for PvM (certain sacrifices must be made when building the pet).

Stats

Since Wildfire Ostards are so tight on points, you can eek out 14 free intensity by allowing it to raise its Dexterity and Stamina to 125 through combat before you apply training points to those stats.

The builds listed below are not based around this technique as to not cause any confusion to those that do not do this. If you do raise Dex/Stam to 125 first, you will have a few extra points to place at your discretion with the builds listed below.

Magical Abilities

Wildfire Ostards are a Magical pet, and can train any of the standard Magical Abilities.

They are not classified as Necromantic, and cannot get Necromancy or Necromage.

If the statue is opened in Tokuno, they can learn the Bushido and Ninjitsu Magicals.

Wildfire Ostards start with Innate Magery and Passive Poisoning.

Passive Poisoning means the Magical Skill 'Poisoning' is not active, but the pet can learn Poison based Special Moves, Abilities, and Area of Effects.

PvM Spec: Chivalry/Armor Ignore, Full 120 Scrolls

Role: High Single Target Damage

Description: Chivalry/Armor Ignore is the classic high single target damage build. It is a well-tested tried and true spec. To have enough points for full 120 Scrolls, you must make sacrifices in Hit Points, Mana, or Regens.

In this build, we do not add any additional Hit Points and instead focus on maintaining max Hit Point Regen (which provides Effective Hit Points).

We sacrifice some Mana Regeneration in order to provide the pet with a decent mana pool for fighting. 370 Intelligence and 25 Mana Regeneration still provides a good amount of Mana Recovery and is more efficient than a low mana pool with capped MR for fights under 12 minutes in duration.

The MR stat on the pet can also be supplemented by Peacemaking Bard Auras, which will cap out the MR stat on your pet if applied.

Full 120 Scrolls on a pet is not necessary, but it can be done on a Wildfire Ostard with some sacrifices made.

General Build Order:

  • First Round of Training
    • Add 20 HPR
    • Set Resists to your preference
    • Set Stamina to 150
    • Set Dexterity to 150
    • Add Chivalry
    • Scroll Chivalry to 120

    • Add remaining points to Mana

Adding Chivalry during the first round of training allows Chivalry to start gaining skill points while you are leveling your pet on the next level.

The other stats given during the first round of training will maximize your pets survivability to make training easier, and take care of some of the 'housekeeping' training like Dex/Stam/Intelligence.

  • Second Round of Training
    • Set Base Damage to Max
    • Set Strength to 700
    • Set Mana Regen to 25
    • Add Armor Ignore
    • Scroll all remaining Skills to 120
      • Do not scroll Magery or Evaluate Intelligence!
These skills will show up in the scrolls menu, but since you replaced Magery with Chivarly, they are now dormant. Do not apply scrolls to them!
    • Verify all training above has been completed, then add remaining points to Mana.
      • You should have 372 Mana at this point (higher if you raised Dex/Stam to 125 through combat first)

PvM Spec: Chivalry/Armor Ignore, 120/110 Mixed Scrolls

Role: High Single Target Damage

Description: Chivalry/Armor Ignore is the classic high single target damage build. It is a well-tested tried and true spec.

This build is built nearly identical to the above build, but instead of using all 120 Power Scrolls, this build will focus on applying 120 Scrolls to 2 critical skills (Chivalry and Wrestling), and 110 Scrolls for all other skills.

There are 2 variations of this build presented below. One that adds additional Hit Points, and another that adds Mana and Stamina Regen

    • Add Armor Ignore
    • Scroll Wrestling to 120

PvM Spec: Magery & Ability, 120/110 Mixed Scrolls

Role: Single Target Damage, Ranged Attacks, Sustain

Description: Magery on pets is an often forgotten spec, but it is quite versatile. It gives your pet ranged attacks via Magery spells (your pet will still move in to melee range to attack, there is no stopping that), and it also gives your pet a lot of sustain via Healing and Curing.

This build won't do as high of damage as a Chivarly/AI Spec, but it is quite versatile, easier to build, and adds a good amount of survivability to a pet that will be lacking in Hit Points.

This build allows you to choose which ability you want to pair with Magery, as long as it is a 100 point cost. Descriptions of each choice will be found below.

      • Armor Ignore: Best single-target ability in the game. Provides high damage to any target, regardless of resists.
      • Armor Pierce: Great support ability. When applied, increases all damage taken by the target by 10%.
      • Mortal Strike: Prevent targets from healing for the duration of the ability. Does increased damage if the debuff is already applied to the target.
      • Poison Breath: Massive AoE Poison ability. Great for gathering up lots of enemies on the screen.
      • Explosive Goo: Massive AoE ability with minor damage component. Great for gathering up lots of enemies on the screen. Less mana cost than Poison Breath and will work on Poison-Immune enemies.
      • Other: You aren't limited to the choices above, those are just recommendations. Review all Pet Abilities.
    • Scroll Wrestling to 120
    • Scroll all remaining Skills to 110
    • Set Stamina Regen to 5
    • Set Hit Points to 500
    • Verify all training above has been completed, then add remaining points to Mana.
      • You should have 534 mana at this point

PvP Spec: Vicious Poison

Role: PvP

Description: PvP pets mainly serve a specific purpose, to keep targets interrupted as much as possible. Bane Dragons excel at this with their vast poisoning options, and the same principles can be applied to the Wildfire Ostard.

This build pairs the Innate Magery of the Wildfire Ostard with 2 sticky Poisoning Abilities: Poison Breath and Vicious Bite.

The goal of this pet is to keep a target Poisoned as much as possible and interrupted through Magery spell spam. Vicious Bite is the silent killer, as its damage comes at a very large delay, so the target may be unprepared for the hit.

Build Stats:

  • Strength: 540
  • Dexterity: 150
  • Intelligence: 700
  • Hit Points: 500+
  • Stamina: 150
  • Mana: 550+

  • Physical Resist: 80
  • Fire Resist: 80
  • Cold Resist: 65
  • Poison Resist: 65
  • Energy Resist: 75

  • Hit Point Regen: 20
  • Stamina Regen: 5
  • Mana Regen: 30

  • Magical Ability: Magery
  • Special Ability: Vicious Bite
  • Area Effect: Poison Breath

  • Scrolls: 120 Wrestling, 120 Eval Intelligence, Variable Other Skills

General Build Order:

  • First Round of Training
    • Add 20 HPR
    • Set Resists to your preference
    • Set Stamina to 150
    • Set Dexterity to 150
    • Set Intelligence to 700
    • Scroll Eval Intelligence to 120
    • Add Area Effect > Poison Breath
    • Add Special Ability > Vicious Bite
    • Add remaining points to Mana
  • Second Round of Training
    • Set Base Damage to Max
    • Set Mana Regen to 30
    • Set Stamina Regen to 5
    • Set Hit Points to 500
    • Set Mana to 550
    • Scroll Wrestling to 120
    • At this point you have the base pet all finished and it is just fine tuning and personal preference with the remaining points.
      • You do have enough points to full scroll all skills to 120 if you desire, though 120 Tactics/Anatomy/Parry aren't really needed on a PvP pet. You could settle for 110 scrolls on those skills, or even leave them at 100.
      • Resisting Spells is useful at 120, but is an expensive scroll, it is recommended to apply at least a 110 RS scroll.
      • Whatever points you have leftover after scrolling, you can add to Hit Points and Mana at your discretion.

Why 540 Strength?

Pet damage in PvP is capped and your pet can hit that cap without needing 700 strength and 120 tactics. You also aren't relying on the pet for pure melee damage in PvP, your focus is on spell interrupts and poisoning.

700 Intelligence will add extra SDI for the Magery spells, as well as significant Mana Recovery so your pet is casting spells and abilities for a longer period of time.

PvP Spec: Mortal Poison

Role: PvP

Description: PvP pets mainly serve a specific purpose, to keep targets interrupted as much as possible. Bane Dragons excel at this with their vast poisoning options, and the same principles can be applied to the Wildfire Ostard.

In addition to interrupts, potent debuffs can be quite powerful for a pet to have.

This build pairs the Innate Magery of the Wildfire Ostard with Poison Breath and Mortal Strike.

The goal of this pet is to keep a target Poisoned as much as possible and interrupted through Magery spell spam. Mortal Strike is a potent debuff in PvP, preventing all healing on the target for the duration.

Conclusion

The above builds aren't the only way to build the Wildfire Ostard, but they will provide a good guide to follow if you are unsure how to build it, or are just looking for some examples.
